Staying Alive is a program that has been developed to help make fire safety and awareness an everyday important part of life.

Shane Ferguson

Shane Ferguson      

Shane is the founder of the Staying Alive program. He has been involved in Fire Safety Education for many years.

"Through his dedication to fire safety awareness, the program has developed into an education tool that is known and is being utilized worldwide."



Jeff Derraugh

Jeff Derraugh      

Jeff has been involved with Staying Alive for the past four years and has been responsible for developing a lot of the content for the “Staying Alive Fire Safety Program”.

Jeff also plays an important role (writer and audios) in "The Great Escape" game and Hot Tips section of the site as well.



Mitch Dorge

Mitch Dorge      

Mitch has been a huge supporter of Staying Alive in the past few years. He has helped in the game development and Hot Tips area of the site.

Through his many hours of recording, many key components for the Staying Alive program have been developed.



Randi Monteith

Randi Monteith      

Randi has been the driving force in promoting Staying Alive throughout Northwestern Ontario and is an important part of the Staying Alive Team

She has played a key role in the Thunder Bay Wendy's event and also in our ongoing relationship with The Co-operators.



Bobbi Bean

Bobbi Bean      

Bobbi has been involved with the Technical side of Staying Alive since her final year at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Bobbi is the technical coordinator for “The Great Escape” and the Staying Alive website www.stayingalive.ca.



Andre Couture

Andre Couture      

André Couture, a Firefighter/Public Education Facilitator, has joined Staying Alive as an advisor and spokesperson for our "French Division".

André is a teacher formally from Quebec and a Firefighter with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. We welcome his expertise in both areas to help further develop our program. Welcome aboard André.



Danny Graham

Danny Graham      

Danny Graham, is a captain with the Winnipeg Fire & Paramedic Services and has been developing fire safety information for the Staying Alive Program.

He has been out to numerous events here in Winnipeg, talking about fire safety and wearing his firefighting gear so that kids know what firefighters look like before a fire emergency strikes.

Welcome aboard "Captain Dan".



Jimmy Parks

Jimmy Parks      

Jimmy Parks is our Burn Information Specialist for Staying Alive Inc.

Jimmy is a Nurse from Little Rock, Arkansas who works in the Burn Center at Arkansas Children’s Hospital for over fourteen years. We are very fortunate that we have such a knowledgeable source for Burns.



Marc Rayner

Marc Rayner      

Marc Rayner, a Firefighter/Training Officer has joined Staying Alive as an advisor and is a specialist in Bush Wild Fires.

Marc is a Firefighter and Training Officer with the Helensburg Rural Fire Brigade, Australia. Marc is our Staying Alive coordinator in Australia.



Kathy-Makituk Michael

Kathy-Makituk Michael is a CHR From the Iqaluit Public Health Unit is now an advisor to the Staying Alive program.

We at Staying Alive are pleased to have her aboard.



Pierre Savary

Pierre Savary      

Pierre Savary, a Firefighter/Fire Prevention Officer with the Ottawa Fire Service has joined Staying Alive.

Pierre is our liaison for the Ottawa and surrounding area, welcome aboard.



Annie Parenteau

Annie Parenteau is a Firefighter/Public Education Facilitator from the city of Ile Perrot.

Annie is our co-ordinator for Staying Alive in the Montreal and surrounding area. Welcome aboard.



Olga Vélez

Olga Vélez      

Olga is a teacher at Da Vinci International School in Antwerp and is our Staying Alive Coordinator in Belgium.

Benjamin Garcia

Benjamin Garcia      

Benjamin Garcia is a firefighter from Barcelona, Venezuela. 

Benjamin is translating our curriculum and script for "The Great Escape" into Spanish and will be promoting Staying Alive in Venezuela.



Samantha J. Hoffmann

Samantha J. Hoffmann      

Acting Captain, Public Education Toronto Fire Service.

Samantha is a Firefighter/Acting Captain in Public Education for theToronto Fire Service and has been involved with Staying Alive for a couple years.

Samantha is our liaison for the Toronto and surrounding area.



Mika Lees

Mika Lees      

Mika is recognized in the community as passionate advocate for injury prevention and life safety with children and youth. She is also a Firefighter and Prevention Officer with Lappe Fire Department and particularly LOVES doing public safety education in both the elementary and high schools.

Mika has been promoting the Staying Alive Program for the last five years, handing out copies of the Great Escape game at every opportunity.
